Organic Clothing

Although clothing made from synthetics is strong, durable and easy to wash, they are extremely environment polluting. The clothing industry in general is extremely taxing to the environment, requiring transportation of raw materials and finished products from around the world. The industry is also natural resource intensive, with the production of synthetic fibres from petroleum products and environmentally polluting with the release of many toxins and byproducts.

Naturally, the fashion trends nowadays are leaning more towards organic eco-friendly clothing made from natural fibers such as Hemp, organic cotton, flax and tencel fabrics.

Some of the companies marketing clothes made from these natural fibres include:

American Apparel: Makers of sweatshop free T-Shirts located in downton LA, www.americanapparel.net

Of the Earth: Market clothing made from Hemp, tencel, ramie, soy and other organic products. www.oftheearth.com
